As part of a large upgrade program for the Nutley, NJ facility, Hoffmann-La Roche renovated the liquids area on the second floor of Building 59. The goal of the project was to modernize the liquid blending facilities in order to enhance sanitation, increase production, and improve cGMP compliance for creams and lotions.

One of the challenges of this project was developing integrated, three-phased construction documents that provided for two construction shutdown periods, allowing Hoffmann-La Roche to quickly resume production in this facility.

Upgrades included epoxy-covered floor covering over new floor drainage patterns, card-key operated automatic doors, pre-fabricated sanitary removable panels (allowing expedient equipment and utility access), new suspended ceiling of gypsum with cocoon coating, and special air handling equipment.
