Islamic Society of Central Jersey
ISCJ selected EI to develop a master plan for their 15 acre property on Route 1. Each phase of the plan will include required parking and site improvements.
The first phase of the plan includes an 86,000 sq.ft. Pre-K through 12th grade school to replace the temporary classroom units currently on the site. The school features include a covered drop-off/pick-up area, entrance courtyard, academic block with 30 classrooms, science labs, art and music rooms. The shared core facilities include a library, auditorium, lunch room and gymnasium. The entire school building is oriented towards the dula so that student can pray in any room by facing the proper wall.
The second phase will include a 40,000 sq. ft. office building and parking structure. The building will be leased to various businesses that support the Islamic community.
Subsequent phases include residential units, burial preparation house and an expansion to the existing mosque. The style of the buildings will be contemporary with references to traditional Islamic architecture. The buildings will feature “green” building principles that employ environmentally responsible design and construction practices.
