Mosque Expansion
As part of a 15 acre multi-use master plan, ISCJ selected EI to design the expansion to their existing 13,100 sq.ft. mosque. The original mosque built in the 1970’s can no longer accommodate the needs of the ISCJ. The prayer area is insufficient, the internal organization of spaces do not function properly and the exterior of the building is in need of upgrades.
The planned expansion nearly doubled the capacity of the pray area and include four additional meeting rooms. The expansion also include a main lobby a the front of the building and a secondary lobby adjacent to additional parking at the rear of the building. From each lobby men and women can now go directly to separate coat and shoe areas, ablution and restroom areas prior to entering the pray area and other function of the mosque.
The new exterior of the Mosque is a more contemporary style with references to traditional Islamic architecture. The main entrance facing Route 1 will feature a new arched entrance court and enhanced minaret.
