EI Associates designed this 250,000 sq.ft. addition to Leaf’s main candy manufacturing center. The building includes warehousing, loading docks, manufacturing, general office, and food services facilities. As a food manufacturing plant the building included a major washdown drainage system, a 100% air-conditioned environment and essential cGMP elements.

The unique facade was a custom design consisting of pre-cast, pre-insulated 10’x30’ forms with a custom color and aggregate mix that were sandblasted to achieve a richly textured appearance. To achieve greater efficiencies in cost, transportation and assembly the size of the panels were set to the maximum over-the-road limited to preclude the need for special permitting.

Another cost saving measure was the repetitive 10’x10’ pattern which minimized the need for new forms and facilitated the design of strip windows for the office areas.
