Athletic Facilities

Among the many projects for which EI has been commissioned to provide architectural and engineering services was the alteration and system upgrade project for the Holleder Sports Center and a new synthetic turf surface at Michie Stadium. EI designed a new ticket lobby and completed major renovations to the hockey arena and Christl Basketball Arena. The work included modifications to the mechanical system, and replacement of the gym floor, lighting and sound systems, and the ice rink perimeter boards. Exterior work included replacement of windows and deteriorated metal soffits.

West Point gridders and lacrosse players are playing their home games at Michie Stadium on the latest in synthetic turf sports surfaces. EI developed the technical specifications and preliminary design documents to ensure the use of the highest quality synthetic turf and underpad materials. The criteria required replacement of the existing crowned, cross-flow draining field with a porous, vertically-draining system with subsurface collection pipes.
