EI Associates was retained to renovate Thompson Hall, one of several food science buildings located on Cook Campus.

Renovation consisted of the replacement of interior doors with new, installation of new floor finishes throughout the stairs and corridors, complete window replacement for the older (original) building section, as well as the complete upgrade of two first floor laboratories. All toilet rooms were also renovated with new fixtures to meet barrier-free accessibility. A new ADA compliant exterior ramp was designed at the rear entrance to meet current accessibility requirements.

EI’s mechanical engineers designed new rooftop mechanical units to replace the existing inadequate units.

Renovation also included the replacement of the slate roof area, new copper gutters, entire replacement of the flat roof over the lab section of the building as well as the restoration of the exterior woodwork and cornice trim.
