College Hall
Douglass Campus
EI Associates was retained to renovate College Hall, a national historic landmark building serving as the main admissions office for Douglass College.
The building, constructed in the 1890’s as a private residence, now houses the college’s administrative functions. As part of our interior restoration work scope, years of surface mounted utilities, piping and conduit were systematically removed and rerouted to a concealed condition. Exposed steam piping and radiators were removed throughout and replaced with a central forced air system for heating and cooling. New ductwork is concealed in new vertical chases as well as existing closets. Existing window air conditioners were removed to allow for the restoration of the wood windows.
Existing plaster ceilings were furred to accommodate and conceal existing sprinkler piping throughout. A custom ceiling edge/soffit detail was developed to retain the existing crown moldings.
The first floor Fellows Room was restored and included custom French doors designed to fit an existing arch opening separating this conference room from an adjoining office area as well as the restoration of an abandoned fireplace. New finishes consisted of period carpeting, wallpaper, paint and period lighting.
