EI Associates was retained by Brookdale Community College to design site and building improvements as part of the development of the Northern Monmouth Higher Education Center.

A 4.1-acre site located at the corner of Union Avenue and Crown Plaza in Hazlet, NJ, was purchased by the College. As part of the development of this site, EI designed adaptive re-use of an existing 29,000 sq. ft. flex building located on this site. EI redesigned the exterior façade with stone and stucco, designed new window openings and designed a new covered student entrance to fit with Brookdale’s aesthetic requirements. The interior of the former warehouse/office building was completely gutted and redesigned to provide space for sixteen academic classrooms, including a science classroom, computer laboratory and multipurpose student center. The renovations also included the design of new ADA compliant bathrooms and facilities, a new roof and new HVAC systems.

The existing site was also renovated to provide parking for 200 vehicles as well as barrier free access to the building. A new driveway entrance was erected on Crown Plaza allowing the former driveway to be eliminated and improving the site traffic flow.
