Destinations Federal Credit Union, formerly MTA Federal Credit Union, served the employees and family members of the Baltimore City Municipal Transit Authority. As the Credit Union grew new services were added and the membership increased. The resulting increase in activity levels had an impact on operational, personnel and space requirements. The existing space was no longer operationally efficient nor could it accommodate further growth. With a change in executive management, the new President realized the immediate need to reorganize the credit union’s retail and operational space. He also wanted to visually enhance the Credit Union’s image.

The project was a complete redesign and remodel of the interior and exterior of the facility. The retail area was redesigned to improve traffic flow and enhance the Credit Union’s image. The operational space renovation included the renovation of a garage area into an executive office for the CEO. It also included a reorganization of space to allow for additional offices for support staff.

Over the next few years the Credit Union’s growth continued and with it the requirement to accommodate changes in personnel, management style and operational reorganization. The new redesign also incorporated both the Public and Executive Reception Areas.

As financial institutions continue to grow and change, there is a resulting impact on both personnel, operational and space requirements. Today, many financial institutions are also investigating incorporating designs that will assist in their cross-selling of products and services.
