General Motors

EI teamed with Barton Malow on a design/ build project to provide a 24,000 SF. body shop addition to the 2,000,000 SF. General Motors facility in Linden, NJ for production of a new four-door crew truck.

EI was responsible for designing all the civil, architectural, foundation, HVAC/mechanical, fire protection and electrical work. Two new air circulation units 25,000 cfm each, provide the required heating and ventilating to the new space, and a new 480 volt, 1,600 amp busway was connected to the existing busway to provide the electrical power needed for the welding robots, air handling units, and other miscellaneous loads.

The addition required relocation of existing utility services including water, electricity, compressed air, and steam service for the entire plant. It incorporates automated truck body conveyance systems and material recovery bays.

EI has been providing design services to General Motors for over 25 years.
