Bestfoods’ Bay Shore, NY, Entenmann’s baking complex has been the scene of a number of projects for EIA Construction Division Inc.

The warehouse expansion to Building 28, a “U” shaped building with route truck docks on all sides, consisted of “filling the U” to provide both additional floor space and additional docks. The work required raising the grade so the new slab matches the existing one, installing new storm drainage manholes and 36” piping, constructing new column footings, erecting new steel and roof deck and installing the new concrete floor slab. A new sump pit connecting to the existing sanitary piping was also installed to receive existing drainage from the boiler room.

When the addition was watertight, the old exterior walls were removed, yielding much needed additional floor space. In addition, new recessed doors were added to accommodate “long haul” trailers, which required excavation of the new recesses and the placement of new drainage structures and piping.
